Russian Troitsa (Pentecost Sunday)

On this day (Sunday) the Orthodox Church marks 50 days after the feast of Pascha and commemorates the gift of the Holy Spirit to the Church as recorded in the Book of Acts. In Russian tradition, the feast is known as Troitsa, the Trinity, and is the first of three feast days (including Monday and Tuesday). It is customary to bring boughs and branches into the Church – with the priest vested in Green. Thus, the Temple becomes a very green place on this feast – emphasizing not only the gift of the Spirit to the Church, but the Spirit as the Lord and Giver of Life.

  1. Interesting feast. I have known that religious feeling is increasing late years in Russia. Besides some say that it's impossible separete the russian soul of religion, in spite of years of communism. Russian literature deals good with the fate and fatalisms and maybe some greatest world authors from Russia didn't get so success as writters .

  2. That's true.))
Mentally and historicaly most of the russians are hunger for spiritual life and culture.
A lot of invaders crossed or occupied some of our territories.
We lost a huge amount of our population quite often because of it... Even the communists couldn't change the situation with faith they even made us stronger in this struggle.
We know- our main treasure is in our souls and hearts and we are not afraid to lose our material welfare.
