I am not certain, but wasnt this the theme music for a news broadcast during the Soviet Era.

I think I may have heard several other of his classical pieces.

A totally unrelated question, I recently heard that there are plans
for a 24 hour English language radio station in Moscow, by the man who just purchased the London Evening Standard.

I think I heard this on Radio Netherlands, but it went by so quickly while I was working on something else at the time, that I am not certain I heard this correctly.

I thought this sounded familiar.

In the area I used to live in, there was a television network that used to broadcast network news from many other countries on Sunday afternoons (I think it was C.N.N. which should also be known in Russia)

It was one of my favorite things to do on Sunday afternoons. I would tune in to their international segment, which was several hours long, and they would show the evening news from eight or ten other countries capital cities.

They always showed "Vremya" as well as news from Paris and London. Those were three regular programs that would be shown every weekend, and then they would vary the news from other countries. Of course, they translated for us, as most Americans do not speak a second language.

Not much of Sveridov's music is available here (actually it is large city music stores that have a good classical collection, but not where I live), Sometimes though, his music is played on some of the European radio stations that stream on the Internet though.

I have a difficult time telling which Russian internet radio streams are classically oriented, though. The only one I know of is "Radio Orpheus"

I hope that the planned English Language station from Moscow has an internet stream. The Voice of Russia is very good, but it's programming is more directed towards people outside of Russia, and sometimes it is interesting to listen to programs that are directed towards people living in a place.

I think this radio-station will be political- oriented .

I can usually do without politics, but it will still be interesting to hear it, I think
